Why are we excited about becoming the NZ Distributor for this tool? Because it can “see sound!”
And that is enough to remind me of the amount of time I spent over the years with a screwdriver, stethoscope and fuel hose finding faulty bearings, water pumps and tuning E49 six pack Webers, and that's enough for me to rate it.
I have been walking around home with this demo tool for a while now pointing it at anything and everything, I didn't get the reaction I hoped for on one occasion but I have learned from that and am allowed back in the house again. However, while out in the shed I refocused and confirmed the exact location of the leak in the woodsplitter tyre, the point of leakage on the compressor hose fitting in the workshop and where the boost pressure leak was on the A3.
Almost all of those results were enough to impress me and I am already looking forward to using the TD2e to solve future problems.
If I think back to recent cases, it would have been great to have the TD2e when solving a hard to find AC system leak and would definitely have solved a questionable brake tester bearing that was replaced “just in case”.
I don't restore classic cars anymore but pairing the TD2e up with the audio signal generator on the seat of the vehicle and walking around the outside looking for signs of seal leakage would have been gold back then. Potentially every vehicle coming out of the panel shop after body work could benefit from that test.
