COSBER 2WD & 4WD CHASSIS DYNAMOMETERS
Bring dyno testing in-house with a Cosber chassis dyno from AECS. Choose from two models: the portable 2WD 1000 dyno machine, or the 2000hp synchronised 4WD X 4000. Both use eddy current retarders for fast, repeatable power and torque results.
Whether you're tuning, chasing a fault that only shows up under load, or proving a repair before the car goes back, a rolling road dyno keeps the testing in your workshop and off the road. We handle the whole job: helping you choose the right model, installing it anywhere in New Zealand, onboarding your team and keeping it calibrated.

WHAT A DYNO DOES FOR YOUR WORKSHOP
Tuning and tune validation, with before-and-after power and torque printouts
Dyno days for car clubs and enthusiasts
Diagnosing faults that only show up under load
Proving repair work before the car goes back to the customer
Safe, repeatable testing with no road tests
4WD CHASSIS DYNOS
Most modern performance cars, and many SUVs, are all-wheel drive. The Cosber 4WD X 4000 tests both axles at once, with a patented Z-shaft system keeping all four wheels synchronised for the closest thing to an on-road run. It can sit above ground or be installed semi or fully in-ground to suit lower cars.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT IS AN AUTOMOTIVE DYNO USED FOR?
A chassis dynamometer (dyno) is an essential piece of diagnostic equipment that measures a vehicle's performance under controlled conditions. An automotive dyno accurately measures horsepower, torque, and speed while the vehicle remains stationary.
The testing capabilities of our car dynamometers for sale make them invaluable for modern auto workshops focused on accurate diagnostics and quality service. Your workshop can use this equipment for:
Diagnostic testing to identify performance issues
Verifying the effectiveness of repair work
Measuring power output and optimisation
Emissions testing and compliance checks
Performance tuning validation
HOW ACCURATE ARE CHASSIS DYNO RESULTS?
Our modern chassis dynamometers deliver highly accurate results when properly calibrated and operated. The precision of results depends on a few key factors, including:
Regular professional calibration
Correct testing procedures and operator expertise
Consistent environmental conditions
Proper vehicle preparation
We include onboarding and ongoing support, so your team learns the right testing procedures from day one. With yearly calibration, Cosber dynos stay within the manufacturer's tolerances: power within ±3%, and driving force within ±1% on the 4WD X 4000 and ±2% on the 2WD 1000. Just as importantly, the same dyno gives consistent results run after run, which is what makes before-and-after comparisons reliable.
WHAT MAINTENANCE DOES A CAR DYNAMOMETER REQUIRE?
Our car dynamometers for sale need regular maintenance to maintain their accuracy and reliability. General maintenance for this equipment includes:
Professional calibration
Regular roller-bearing checks
Safety system testing
Software updates
Load cell verification
A proactive approach to maintenance will help prevent unexpected downtime in your workshop and extend the lifespan of your car dynamometer.
DO I NEED A 2WD OR 4WD DYNO?
If you mainly work on front- or rear-wheel-drive cars, the Cosber 2WD 1000 covers you up to 1000hp. If you see AWD performance cars or 4WD vehicles, the 4WD X 4000 lets you test them properly instead of turning them away, with synchronised four-wheel speed and a 2000hp rating for high-powered builds.
SHOULD I CHOOSE AN ABOVE-GROUND OR IN-GROUND DYNO?
The Cosber 2WD 1000 sits above ground and comes with ramps and retractable wheels, so you can move it when you need the floor space. The 4WD X 4000 can sit above ground or be installed semi or fully in-ground, which makes it easier to get low cars on. Give us a call and we'll talk through your space.
DO YOU INSTALL DYNOS ANYWHERE IN NZ?
Yes. We install, set up and support dynos right across New Zealand. Our most recent install was in Tauranga.
CAN I GET FINANCE FOR A DYNO?
Yes. Finance is available nationwide through MTF Finance Masterton, with same-day approval (responsible lending criteria apply). Blackfern Co-operative members can also buy with 3, 6 or 12 months deferred payments.
HOW MUCH DOES A DYNO COST?
The Cosber 2WD 1000 starts from $60,000 + GST. Pricing for the 4WD X 4000 depends on your setup, and the final price for either model depends on how it's installed (for example above ground or in-ground), so give us a call on 0800 673 034 for a quote. Finance is available through MTF Finance Masterton, and Blackfern members can spread the cost with deferred payments.
WHAT POWER SUPPLY DOES A DYNO NEED?
The Cosber 2WD 1000 runs on single-phase power (a dedicated 8kVA supply), so you don't need three-phase installed in your workshop. The 4WD X 4000 needs a three-phase supply (16kVA) plus compressed air. We'll check your power and space with you before installation.
